The time has come.

Muppet Christmas Carol is the best goddamn version of A Christmas Carol and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. 

True story, sis, yesterday I found out a friend of mine had never seen it ever and I was so sad for them and yet so happy because now they know it exists and are going to watch it and their spirits ye they will be lifted by the glory of Gonzo!Dickens. 

I’ve been waiting all year for it to be an appropriate season to livestream this movie and force everyone to watch it.

It’s actually very true to the story despite the whole “muppets” thing and the humor is much more sophisticated than I think people realize.

Every word of this is deeply true.

When I do make my trek back to my parents house this Christmas, there is one thing I know I will do. I have done it on many other Christmas treks. I will root around in a forgotten, overburdened drawer of VHS tapes to find my copy of The Muppet Christmas Carol. I will put it in our old VCR and watch it to the accompaniment of my younger siblings groans and protestations and questions of “Why are you watching this again?!”

“Because it is the best,” I will say. And hope in my heart of hearts that one day they understand.
